Highly recommend this class. During lockdown this was a life saviour. Debra is so good so caring supportive not just a massage course but so much more .... support with a new born, weaning, parenting etc. Met such a nice group of new mums too. Debra will be a special lady now in my life she won’t be able to get rid of me! Such an asset to the mum community.

When I first moved to Maidenhead, Debra was recommended to me by every mum I met - and now I know why! The baby massage course was so much fun for both me and my baby and a great way to meet other mums. Debra runs a very calm and relaxing class in her beautiful home. The discussions after the massage were equally enjoyable. Debra manages to share a wealth of knowledge in an entirely understanding and non-judgemental way. I cannot recommend highly enough.

A friend recommended Debra’s baby massage course and so I took my daughter when she was 11 weeks old. This is more than a massage course! The first hour is dedicated to learning baby massage In a relaxing environment (Debra’s home) and allows great bonding time with your baby. The second hour is a chance to catch up with the other mums over a tea/coffee and biscuit discussing key parenting topics. I found the baby weaning and first aid discussions extremely useful. Debra is an experienced mum and practitioner and provides a wealth of information on a range of topics. I would highly recommend the baby massage course!

As a second time round mum but with an 8 year age gap I felt the need to attend an antenatal class. Having already met Deborah at the baby cafe in Maidenhead whilst I was pregnant I was immediately at ease when arriving at the house. The classes were both informative and engaging. Having had severe post natal depression the first time around I felt the need to refresh myself and meet other expecting mums. The classes also helped my husband and I to prepare as a couple which made a huge difference once the baby was born. Meeting the other mums also gave me a social network of people to meet once the baby was born. I am glad to say this time around there has been no post natal depression and I think the classes and network has really supported this. The baby massage classes were also very enjoyable and gave us the chance to catch up and bond with our babies. Again discussion with other mums has helped me and kept me informed. Deborah was fantastic and I would recommend both these classes to expecting parents. A big thank you to Deborah!

A lovely course. Split into 2 sections, massage then topical discussion. The discussion element was really nice - this is when the bonding and forming mum friends happens, which is so useful when you have a little one. The massage was nice too, I felt more bonded to my baby afterwards. Debra is welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about all things children!

Baby Matters is an amazing initiative by Debra Jonckers in the Maidenhead area. It is so much more than a business. Debra takes real pride in offering support to young mothers, in all shapes and forms. This includes hands-on and empowering antenatal courses, baby massage sessions that focus on bonding with your baby but also discusses important topics for new moms, vital first aid courses, and additionally she also runs a get together for moms with babies of varying ages. All her courses are extremely valuable and great value for money. But the cherry on top is that it just shines through how much Debra cares and how she wants each and every one of us to feel comfortable and happy in our new role as a mom. I would highly recommend Baby Matters.

I have just completed Debra's baby massage course and it was excellent and I would totally recommend it. :) We really enjoyed learning the massage techniques and this course is more than just massage....after each massage lesson there is tea and biscuits with a chat about various post natal topics e.g birth experiences, returning to work plans, weaning etc. It was a great way to meet a really nice group of Mums and babies. There was also a Saturday session so that Dads could have a lesson on how to do the massage too - my husband really enjoyed his time with our daughter! Thanks Debra! :)

Both my Midwife and a friend recommended Birth Matters to me and I'm so glad that they did. Debra is so knowledgeable, sensitive, respectful and above all, supportive, of every parent and situation. Her classes put both my partner and I at ease while equipping us with all of the information we needed in order to make informed decisions both in the latter stages of pregnancy and birth, as well as in our first few weeks and months of being new parents. We felt empowered to make decisions which ultimately improved our birth experience as a result of the information, guidance and friendly advice Debra shared. Debra goes to so much effort to make each session as useful and fun as they can be; we really enjoyed them all. I'm personally so grateful to have met Debra and taken the Birth Matters course because as a result I've also made some brilliant new friends who have become my vital and cherished support network as a new mum. Our group also all attended Debra's Baby Massage course after our little ones were born. I found those sessions equally invaluable in terms of both bonding with my baby but also having the time and support to re-live our birth experiences and find our feet as new mums. I cannot recommend Debra and Birth Matters enough to anybody who is about to become a parent.

Debra's baby massage course was excellent, I joined the class when my baby was only a few weeks old and it is perfect for new Mums. Not only do you cover baby massage but you spend the second half of the session going over key topics including weaning, teething, child care and much more - I really appreciated Debra's guidance and it has helped me everyday. The class takes place in Debra's beautiful home which makes it all feel very relaxed.

Debra's antenatal course is a must for all new parents. So pleased that we did it! Practical, realistic advice and local knowledge and tips that you just won't find online or in books. I feel that I am approaching delivery and parenthood with my eyes wide open, prepared (as much as anyone can be!) and confident. The session with the breastfeeding counsellor was invaluable and it is already becoming evident that our group will have a high breastfeeding success rate as a result. We have also made some great friends and have such a good support network going forward. I am already recommending this course to people and we are looking forward to doing the baby massage course in a couple of months. Debra is a fantastic teacher and the sessions were relaxed and fun. I was really sad when they came to an end and even my partner really enjoyed them. It really is worth every penny!

I can definitely recommend Debra's courses as she is such an amazing professional. Knowing SO much about labour/babies/parenting and teaching it in a very easy way, Debra's classes are full of useful information, tips and advises on how to cope with this new parenting life. Thank you Debra!

Without a single doubt I highly recommend Babymatters. We thouroughly enjoyed the course and the support network afterwards of the other parents to be on the course and Debra herself is invaluable. Debra is knowledgeable, approachable and a pleasure to be around. She gives a great overview from different perspectives and doesn't push one view over another. We also signed up for baby massage after enjoying the antenatal classes so much which was brilliant. Debra genuinely cares and has been on hand since for much baby/parenting advice. I also think the course is great value for money for everything included.

We were very lucky to have been able to join Debra's class after our original one was cancelled at the last minute. She was amazingly helpful and accommodating to fit us in, it was fortunate that we'd previously met at the baby first aid class. We found the classes to be very informative but light-hearted, making it far easier to take in. From labour guidance through to baby changing we left the classes feeling far more confident than when we'd originally walked in. There was also the opportunity to talk to some recent parents to hear first hand their experience and possibly ask the questions that you might not have wanted to ask the teacher :-) We were very glad to have a wonderful group of people joining us in the class and we have already been back to Debra with them all to take the baby massage classes. She has continued to support us when we had concerns and she has already been very reassuring and honest, allowing us to be more self-assured parents with a very happy baby. We couldn't recommend Debra any higher and if you are due to have a baby sign up now!

I was really looking forward to baby massage and Debra didn't disappoint! Not only was learning how to massage my little girl fantastic, but meeting Debra was an absolute pleasure. She truly makes you feel at home and like you're doing a great job as a mum. We have now incorporated massage into our bedtime routine which is a wonderful way to wind down at the end of the day. I would without a doubt recommend this course to anyone.

My husband and I really enjoyed Debra’s courses. They were not only a great chance to meet and get to know other couples at the same stage as us, but were incredibly useful and informative. Debra is so warm and welcoming, and clearly has a great wealth of experience both as a mum of 4 and in having run antenatal classes for so many years. She was great at giving all the information and a balanced view on various birthing and parenting options (drug options in labour, feeding methods etc) but then encouraging us to make the choices that are right for us. She also has lots of great tips for coping with labour and looking after a newborn. The more informal post course sessions for the women were really great for getting to know each other better and revisiting some of the topics that had gone by in a bit of a blur during the main sessions. Would highly recommend!

I highly recommend this course, which is so much more than baby massage alone. Debra worked hard to make each session therapeutic and informative at the same time, in a lovely relaxing environment. My daughter and I really enjoyed learning about the massage, and the time afterwards to chat through issues surrounding motherhood was invaluable for me. My only other comment would be that if you are on a tight budget, there are surely cheaper ways to learn the basics of massage; however, I feel this course is money well spent for a really fantastic and heart-warming experience. I will really miss it now it is over.

What a wonderful class. Really enjoyed learning the hows and whys of baby massage - she loves it and I enjoy doing it, and can see years of benefits in our future! Also appreciated meeting other mums with babies of a similar age. Would highly recommend this class. Sign up, you won't regret it!

I have taken baby first aid and birth matters with Debra and will start baby massage tomorrow. Debra is extremely flexible and very professional yet also personal. I learned a ton on her courses and always left her house feeling more confident, secure, and excited about what lay ahead. Debra also has a fantastic network in town among new mums and all baby related matters. She takes the time to understand your situation and to give you personalized advice. I moved to the area a few months before the start if the course and have Debra to thank for a fantastic support network and community of really lovely people. Debra's course would be my number one recommendation for any expectant mom in Maidenhead!

My son William and I have absolutely loved our baby massage course! It is fun and interactive in an easy and relaxed environment. William could not keep his eyes open in a lot of the classes as he found it so relaxing and it is regularly part of our bedtime routine now. The additional discussions are fab and the interactive weaning class has given me so much confidence for when that time comes, I am really looking forward to weaning William whereas before I was a little lost. We are so sad it has finished.

Five stars isn't enough! Having assumed NCT was the only option in Maidenhead, Birth Matters was recommended to me by my community midwife and I am so glad that I chose it! Debra is instantly warm, friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable - if she doesn't have the answer to something, she knows somebody who does, from breast feeding support, prenatal yoga, baby first aid etc etc. The classes themselves are set up to be fun and very sociable as well as informative. We really liked the open-minded approach to labour and breastfeeding to name a couple and also the hands on practical sessions with life-size baby dolls.. Both my husband and I came away with a much better knowledge of all aspects of birth and parenting, as well as feeling we had bonded with a great set of like-minded mums (and Dads-to-be) who we'll know for years to come. Debra's door is always open and in fact, some of the sessions are run in her own home. It's this fantastic blend of professionalism and personal and welcoming manner that really make Debra and Birth Matters a stand-out course in the area. Would highly recommend to any first-time parents!

This was an excellent course. Not only does Debra obviously care for every one of the babies that attends, she is also generous with her expert advice for us mums too! I really enjoyed the baby massage course and so did Elizabeth, bedtimes are much more relaxed and she drifts straight off to sleep afterwards. Thank you Debra, I will certainly recommend your course.

The Birth Matters course is really the best decision we made during our pregnancy. Without Debra's advice and support we would still be in the dark with regards to allot of questions we had around the birth of our baby and care after birth. Debra gives advice and options in order for the couple to plan their own experience. Debra is a wonderful, patient, kind and highly knowledgeable teacher who has really enriched the entire pregnancy experience for us. Her level of care does not stop after the course and the network of groups and advice services is really great and very reassuring. The bonding experience on the course as a couple was one of the best bits. We have made some lovely friends and the course really opened up a new chapter for us. We can't thank Debra enough for her guidance and support.

Attending Debra's classes was definitely one of the best things my husband and I did. We looked at a lot of antenatal courses in the area but Birthmatters had the best reviews and the support of the local midwives. The course not only prepared us for what could happen during labour but also, more importantly gave us some great tips for what to do when the baby arrived. Debra, is a fountain of knowledge and advice and it is so reassuring to have met her. Since Samuel arrived 2 weeks ago we have already spoken a couple of times, and Debra has made time for us when we have had any concerns. To have that support is unique to Birth Matters and is so valuable, particularly as a first time mum. I am really looking forward to starting the baby massage and first aid courses soon! Thank you so much for giving us the best start and ensuring we have a little bit of confidence in ourselves! Highly recommended.

Moving to a new country, let alone a new town and being pregnant on top of that was a stressful experience to say the least! Thankfully our midwife mentioned Debra's Babymatters course and after a bit of research (as you do) we decided to give the course a go..... And we are so thankful that we did! Debra is an amazing woman, she runs a wonderfully interesting, helpful & interactive antenatal course, which besides being a definite value for money purchase, it also goes beyond that, as Debra commits herself entirely and will be there at the drop of a hat, should the need arise. She has a professional, yet caring, personal, totally interested in you and your needs approach, in such a way that I would go so far as to say it is not her product that should be getting reviews, but indeed Debra herself. - so for both Product and Debra I would rate the course with 5 stars! Further to the Antenatal course, Debra also runs a baby Massage class and a First Aid course - both of which are as equally beneficial and helpful as the Antenatal course. But what we appreciated the most was that Debra doesn't force these products on you, she mentions that she runs them and that they are readily available to you should you wish you sign up..... My recommendation is that you do! Having a new born is such a wonderful experience, made even more so by people like Debra.

I completed the baby massage course with my wee one who was a tiny 4 weeks old at the start of the course. He absolutely loved it and so did I - practicing the massage at home is a lovely way to bond with him, and the classes have been a great way to meet other mums. I enjoyed the way Debra ran the classes, with massage and then coffee and chats with the other mums. Debra is knowledgable and approachable and I learnt a lot from the course. Highly recommended!

I first completed the antenatal course, which Debra has filled with such relevant content that supplements all the reading you might be doing or have done. The practical side exposes you to so much more than you can read about, giving you confidence on what to expect and how to plan. Her wealth of experience, course content, understanding of the local system, relationships with the midwives, being a mom herself and teaching style is what makes the course. My husband was slightly apprehensive about attending but I think he possibly took more from it than me, which I’m sure most the dads to-be or dads would have to say. I loved the course and still socialise weekly with the other girls in my group. Once our baby was born we progressed to the first aid course, which is an absolute must for every parent out there. The course covers newborns, toddlers and adults. Rather be safe than sorry. I too did baby massage, which was such a great journey to embark on with my new daughter. Debra has structured the course with massage, different relevant discussion topics each session, including time for moms and babies to socialise. I still massage my daughter after every bath time. The courses all compliment each other and I can highly recommend attending all of them. Debra and the comfort of her lovely home made the courses for me, plus she makes a great coffee. They were all worth every penny.

An absolute saving grace! Babymatters, is without a doubt a fantastic grounding as well as support group when having a baby - I would definitely say a MUST for any new parents. Being new to the area as well as being pregnant with our first baby, baby matters / birth matters - gave us a clear understanding of what to expect not only in looking after our newborn, but looking after mum during and after delivery as well as embracing our new family dynamics. What I loved most about birth matters is that it did not simply end on our last day of the course - Debra (an amazing woman with the most patience in the world) arranges for the girls in your group (while still pregnant) to meet up with a new mum at their home for tea/coffee to ensure that your anti natal group stay in contact as well as learn from someone who currently has a newborn.. This provides a great platform to ask questions, learn and bond more with the other girls in your anti natal group. I cannot stress enough how important the support of the girls in my anti natal group have been. It really really keeps things in perspective when you feel like your world has turned upside down. Babymatters prepared me in every way for the most magical journey of my life - and honestly - Debra is such a wonderful person to enlighten and teach you about what is best for you and your baby so that you feel more comfortable on this journey.

When my wife and I found out we were expecting our first child we felt daunted to say the least. We looked for ante-natal classes in our area and Birth Matters stood out as the best fit for us, based on both the topics covered and the numerous positive reviews. We were not disappointed. We found Debra to be extremely knowledgeable and her teaching style and overall approach was fantastic. She gave us information but at the same time ensuring we were supported to make decisions that were right for us, not imposing her own views. We also found Debra's wealth of experience reassuring and found she gave us information we would not come across by simply looking things up on the internet, ensuring it was not simply anecdotal but backed up with research which was important to us as a couple. The follow-up support after the course has been excellent also, with three practical sessions, whatsapp groups and the baby cafe for the mums-to be. My wife has found that being introduced to other mums through the class has been invaluable and Debra has supported them to maintain this contact following the classes to support each other through their final stages of our pregnancy. The husbands and partners have also been in touch following the course which has been a great support. We would definitely recommend the Birth Matters course to other new parents, especially those new to the area.

Birth Matters was recommended to me by my midwife and it was great. The sessions covered all you needed to know about what you were facing in labour and basic baby care afterwards. As my labour wasn't as straightforward as hoped, the skills I learnt in the sessions really helped in coping with the situation. Debra is also a fountain of baby knowledge. In our group a lot of our conversations start with 'Debra says....'. Our husbands love us for that! It is very reassuring to know that if you have any questions Debra is there for support. Finally, one of the most valuable outcomes is meeting other new mums in a similar situation. In the 10 weeks since my little one has been born they have been a lifeline and I have met up with members of my group two to three times a week. I would definitely recommend Birth Matters for anyone in the Maidenhead area.

My husband and I decided to join ‘Birth Matters’ with Debra as a great friend recommended the course. Our understanding was that alongside what is covered in the usual NCT course, Birth Matters covered some options that NCT do not discuss. This information was given by Debra in an unbiased way which allowed us to make our own choices, something that was extremely important to us. Debra is an excellent teacher with great passion & knowledge and she puts every effort into making the sessions fun and informative. The lessons usually take place at her home which gives a very relaxed feel. All her advice definitely helped with the remainder of my pregnancy and the labour. She encourages you to use your ‘gut instinct’, ask lots of questions (however silly you may feel) and be prepared. Part of the course is a talk from an external breast feeding councillor and previous pupils from Birth Matters who have recently given birth – both of these talks were invaluable. My son Barnaby & I have now joined Debra’s baby massage course which we love & are also enjoying the continued support network from her coffee mornings. Given most people starting out on this journey ‘don’t know what they don’t know’, I would wholeheartedly recommend the Birth Matters course to guide you through the most amazing experience of your lives – enjoy………

If you think that ante-natal classes will just be hours of information overload and finger-wagging about breast-feeding, think again. The Babymatters sessions were fun, interesting and loaded with sound advice and useful information. Accepted best practice was thoroughly covered, but then so were the real-world alternatives, giving a room full of apprehensive parents-to-be the ability to decide for themselves what suits with no judgments made. During Debra's classes we spent our time listening, discussing, playing games, learning, laughing, carrying a doll and drinking tea. The result was knowledge and understanding of this new person we'd created, and how to look after her and each-other before, during and after the birth. We gained the confidence to care for her in a safe and relaxed way, as well as a circle of new friends who have been going through all the same stuff as us in their own way at around the same time - that support network has been invaluable. In summary, these classes are essential part of becoming a parent for mums and dads alike, and a great start for your new little person.

This is a must do when you are pregnant. When we found out I was pregnant we knew from friends that we wanted to do some antenatal classes and when my midwife told me about Birthmatters we were convinced. Sadly we couldn't attend the classes based in Burnham but it worked out fantastically in the end because I attended the Maidenhead classes with Debra instead and she has helped us in so many ways. I'm not really the maternal type and didn't know much about babies but the Birthmatters sessions taught me plenty. Not just about pregnancy and birth but also the basics about looking after our baby. Debra's words stayed with us throughout my labour and in the scary first few days. The classes were practical and non-judgemental. Breastfeeding didn't work for us but thanks to Debra I knew what to do with a bottle! I now go along to her Wednesday sessions and it's great to be able to ask Debra about any little niggles or to get advice. I also know she'd tell me if she thought there was anything wrong. Best of all I have made some great friends to share this adventure with. I also recommend the baby massage classes - lots of fun and my husband enjoyed the dad's session.

My husband and I attended the birthmatters antenatal course run by Debra in November/December 2013. New to Maidenhead myself I had never heard of birthmatters courses only NCT but went along to a free early pregnancy class run by Debra and decided it was the course for us. Having spoken to other mums who did NCT we are glad we chose this course. I believe a lot more topics are covered and Debra's support and knowledge has continued to assist us since February when our baby boy was born. Debra's local knowledge is second to none and she is also on the board of wexham hospital where she campaigns for improving the maternity services. What I particularly liked about Debra's course was that she presented many topics in an unbiased manner; for example there was a session on breastfeeding with the breastfeeding network and we were also shown how to make up bottles and formula. One of the reasons I think people do antenatal courses is to meet other couples on the same journey and Debra's relaxed home was the perfect place to make new friends. Debra also arranged 5 coffee mornings for us after the course ended and runs a mother and baby cafe in maidenhead town centre too for mums to meet each Wednesday. If you live in maidenhead and the surrounding area then I highly recommend this antenatal course, the courses get booked up really quickly so don't hang about!
