Tuesday 23rd June 2020. Only reopened yesterday following the ram raid in July last year. Under new management and very glad it has opened at last. Great service and a much improved selection and layout in the shop.

Don't be fooled by the "Services" sign and arrow they put out on the main road. After driving for 2.5 hours (130 miles) without a break I was so relieved to see a services sign, so I drove in and parked behind the garage, intending to use the facilities first then buy some sweets and possibly top up my petrol. I asked the lady in the shop where the toilets were but got a hard nosed and rude answer in an accusing tone:- "Are you a customer?" I said I was planning to buy something but I was desperate to use the toilet first after a long drive and as this was an official services I was entitled to. (I might add, at any service station I pull into, I always use the toilet first then I get my refreshments and maybe petrol too afterwards if needed). She then said it was their own sign and not an official national services sign - so no, only customers could use the toilets - and did I have any idea how much it cost them to offer the toilet facility? I was upset by this time, desperate for the toilet and annoyed at being humiliated in front of others in the shop about whether I could use it or not, and also upset at her insinuation that I was planning to sneak a free use of her precious toilet without buying anything - when actually I had every intention of shopping there. So I told her she shouldn't put out a services sign encouraging drivers to pull off the road to use their services, when the toilet was not in fact on offer for use, as others like me may be stopping there after long journeys only to be told no. I said I was inclined to report it. "Go on then, report it" she retorted. Such a bully. She let me join the queue for the toilet once I bought a packet of marshmallows (facility ok but hand drier not working and a bit smelly. Clean though). After which I left as quick as I could. Ironically I might have spent much more if I'd just been allowed to use the toilet first. I might have lingered as I needed a break from driving, topped up the petrol, used the coffee machine if there was one... Just so unnecessary and upsetting when you are on a long drive to visit a friend who is sick! Terrible customer service and their sign is false representation in my opinion.

Utterly disgusted. If you advertise as a "services" you shoulnt force customers to spend a certain amount. Much less do I expect to be referred to as "tight" by the very rude man behind the counter. Shell should seriously reconsider their support of this garage.
