To tell you the truth I only looked at the name tag of Lyam, but today I went to Ellis Brigham in Covent Garden and had almost everyone in the shop give me great advice. If they didn’t have something, they were honest and recommended where to get it, which made me trust their opinions even more that they are there to really help you.
They were knowledgeable about so many areas from mountaineering, ice climbing, skiing, hiking and camping and they really know their stuff they are interested about!
Definitely coming back to buy my gear from them! Thank you!

You can find almost everything at reasonable prices and high quality! !!
Most of the top brand names of adventure and travel products have their corner inside this shop.
The service is excellent and the staff can help you and explain the use of every product.
Almos any question about the products they sell can be answered fast and seriously.
There is a real ice climbing ice simulation for training in the shop at the bottom floor.
There is a great opportunity to buy special gifts especially for men they like outdoor activities and camping.
Visiting this shop you must keep in mind that you're looking for some serious outdoor gear and not some kind of cheep copy and one use products.

Great! Went in for a replacement pair of Salomons and got them fitted perfectly by staff member Rocco (?). He recommended a few other pieces of clothing of a similar level and style that I said I was looking for, too. Really really great service, much much better than the Cotswold Outdoor a few doors down.

Absolutely fantastic service. I was served by Lyam who was very insightful about the products and what would work for the noob like myself. They have the largest stock not only in London but also in the whole of the UK. I was interested in Snowboarding boots, equipment etc and received the best service The sellers were honest and gave advice on what would work rathet than upselling for me. Definitely coming back again and recommend to everyone who is interested in winter sports. On top of that they have indoors ice climbing room. How cool is that?

Bought a new pair of walking boots for my fiancée.
We were served by a very knowledgeable member of the staff (Alex?) who was able to help us find exactly what we needed.
He clearly has a lot of experience in the mountains and was helpful in allowing us to stay in budget.
I’ll be returning to update my own boots soon.

I bought my first pair of climbing shoes from a dedicated climbing shop (Rock On @ Mile End Climbing Wall), and have just brought my second pair at Ellis Brigham.
Shopping at Ellis Brigham was far superior to my experience at Rock On:
Rock On: the assistant seemed more interested in talking with someone who was hanging out at the shop than spending much time with me explaining about the shoes or how they should fit and feel. He may well have been very knowledgable but he didn't engage enough with me to tell.
Ellis Brigham: the assistant was obviously very knowledgable and spent a lot of time with me discussing what I wanted, what might be suitable for me, and explaining what the differences were between the models.
Rock On: Once the assistant had decided that the 2nd pair I'd tried on fitted (from watching me standing on a hold and not asking me very much) he didn't really want to bring out any more shoes (I probably should have been more insistent; wish I had been).
Elis Brigham: I was offered a lot of different shoes to try from various manufacturers. When I asked to try on others it was no problem at all. I was left to spend well over an hour wearing the shoes I was interested in to check that they didn't become painful on extended wearing.
Rock On: Came away with a not great fitting pair of shoes that were painful when worn for more than half an hour. When I got home I found out they were the previous years model (would have been nice to have at least been told this before purchase) and were sold to me for more than I could have got the current years model for from pretty much anywhere online. Felt like my beginneryness had been preyed upon.
Ellis Brigham: Came away with a tight, solid feeling pair of shoes. Have climbed in them and they are great. Very happy to have paid slightly more than if I'd brought online as the service was excellent. They do price match btw, I didn't want to as the service was so good.
Overall verdict
Rock On: 2/10 - they got 1 for actually selling climbing shoes and another 1 for being a physical shop I could try things on at. I realise (hope) that my experience is probably not the norm or they probably wouldn't be a viable business. Also I was initially recommended to buy from there by someone who's views I respect.
Ellis Brigham: 9/10 - would have been 10 but there were a couple of models they didn't have my size in which would have been good to try.
Ellis Brigham - couldn't recommend them enough: thank you so much, well worth the trip into London.

First time at this shop and Ronan definely made my experience very positive!He was attentive,friendly and guided me through my purchase.I purchased a pair of Salomon boots that fit me perfectly.I tried all the shoes and boots in the store.Very good customer service ,I never felt pressured to buy,I took lot of time and he was very patient.

Came here earlier in the year and bought jackets for me and my boyfriend. We hd excellent service then and I did this time round too. I have travelled from Birmingham purely to return to this store and get excellent help in purchasing the next bits of kit in preparation for summit if Kilimanjaro later this year. The lady who served me has also summited so she was really keen and eager to help and i had a lot of questions answered without giving too much away. Fantastic service and will return again to buy the final bits soon!

Was looking for a light breathable rain jacket and some trekking shoes. The guy who helped us with the jacket pointed out the various styles and seemed quite knowledgeable with the stock - bought a jacket. There was less choice in shoes and less help too. Went next door to the runners shop and found what I was looking for.

I went there to look for some lightweight, breathable jackets that can work well to block light-medium wind and will keep me dry when it's raining. I was greeted warmly by the staff on the first floor and a young lady showed me around. She got me introduced to a couple of good brands and then encouraged me to check for more in their lower level. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. On the lower level, I was helped by a young, dynamic Sales Assistant by the name Jack Olive, and he showed me a lot of good brands. I was particularly interested in North Face and he showed me a lot of stuff there. He spent a good 30-40 minutes showing me some of the best available jackets. He wasn't pushy at all and was very patient. Unfortunately, the size and colour that I was looking for were not available in-store but Jack was patient in helping me understand how to order online and collect in-store. Kudos to the team at Ellis Brigham, Covent Garden, London. Hard-working, friendly and knowledgeable staff! Highly recommend them and their team.

Absolutely incredible service from the staff in this shop today: a warm and helpful staff member greeted us at the door as soon as we entered and helped us to find a staff member to advise us, a friendly and helpful female sales assistant gave us great advice on trekking boots and finally Des R, just so knowledgeable and patient, a true expert who helped us find the perfect bag and the perfect boots. Great experience and very constructive advice given, good range of products - we will be back!

Went to return a pair of climbing shoes that I was bought for Christmas. They did not have any sizes of any of the shoes I wanted to try in stock...absolutely ridiculous and a complete waste of my time. The woman who served me was helpful and nice but the whole experience was frustrating as now I'm stuck with shoes that don't fit until they can get more in (and they weren't able to give me an indication of when that might be).

Went here to buy trekking backpacks for myself and my husband. Andrew was super knowledgeable, tried quite a few on each of us, and in the end he even filled the backpacks with weights, so that we could walk around the store like we would on a day hike. They were more expensive than if bought online, but it was well worth it, for the kind of service that we received.

The website advertises a boot repair service - including replacing clips. I called them just to make sure before going in. In the store they told me they could not repair the clip because they do not have a rivet gun. Most ski boots have riveted clips so I am unsure how they plan to carry out such repairs. I was happy for them to improvise but they seemed unwilling to help, probably because the cost of repair was not worth their time. A wasted trip.

I came to the store to get some advise and aimed to get my ski boots fitted that I bought online from another retailer. I was 'helped' by James, who was far from that. I was met with a very hostile manor and it felt as though I was being attacked for purchasing the boots elsewhere with him coming across in a very belittling way with the comments he was making. That was my first and most certainly last experience with Ellis Brigham. I've never had any such experience at Snow & Rock so I will certainly continue to use competitors instead in the future.
Lastly, it seemed that he was one of the more experienced boot fitters amongst the team, which is also somewhat concerning.

If you want great customer service and advice, come here! I bought a snowboard, binding and boots the other week and Andrew was fantastic in helping me choose what I wanted. I came three times in total (once in January when I wasn't sure yet what to get and then twice in April when I actually got the board) and Andrew took a lot of time to talk me through the different boards and helped me choose my perfect one (aptly called the Dreamcatcher :)) and recommended binding and boots as well. I don't usually leave reviews but it was such a great experience (and they had a good range to choose from as well). If I need another big piece of outdoor equipment I would definitely come back here!

Very impressed by staff (Ryan and Dez R) for their assistance and knowledge, credit to the firm. I went in today looking to invest in a pair or B2 boots. I have been doing a lot of research and thankfully they had a boot in stock on my list and in my size. Between then they spent an hour going through a lot of information to help me make a choice whilst also analysing my feet manually and with a machine to determine best inner sole for my feet based on all the technical measurements etc. Very impressed and looking forward to breaking them in up Cairngorms in a week. Thank you and will not hesitate in coming back and recommending.

While you can get boots cheaper online, I headed to EB and ended up with hiking boots that fit perfectly. Des the the department manager took over from the person helping me and was incredible. He measured the width of my feet and found many more options (there's loads more than are on display) and made me use the test ramp and then walk up/down the stairs of the shop. My boots have already been tested hiking in Vietnam and I couldn't be happier.
