As garages go "it does what it says on the tin". I do find them a little pricey however when it comes to services and repairs. Staff are friendly and polite but they do pester you incessantly with reminders about services and Mot's that are coming up, one reminder is sufficient

We've just bought a one-year-old Vauxhall Combo Life from here. Friendly service, really genuine - not pushy.But what really impressed me was their customer service.
We noticed after getting the car that there was a rear headrest missing. Craig went out of his way to get it and source some new clips that go with it, posting them all out to us as we live an hour away. Some companies won't lift a finger once the deal is done, but Smith's clearly value their good reputation and deserve to be well thought of. I thoroughly recommend them.

We couldn't reach a deal regarding px price, having said that I would recommend anyone interested in buying a second hand car to give Smiths a visit in Ilkeston, seemed a very good private dealership well worth going to take a look and having a chat with the friendly staff.

Just collected my new grandland today lovely car really is nice it was a motability car and most garages I visited before didn't show any interest when I said it was a motability car however this garage was very different and definitely has a personal touch you can tell its family owed it shows through and I was also a little upset when ordering my car due to my daughter being disabled and glen the sales representative couldn't have been nicer a genuine nice non pushy person who actually seemed to care about the person and not just the sale I would not hesitate to buy a car from this garage and I think there reviews show that

Graham is a one of a kind genuinely lovely person!
I recently quit my full time job to pursue a postgraduate study in Psychology and so money has been really tight for me recently. When my engine light came on my car I was terrified at what the cost would be. Upon a family member's recommendation I came to Smiths who reviewed my car and told me what needed fixing.
Given the work wasn't urgent & the car safe to drive I said I needed some time to get the money to make the fix. Graham kindly took me outside, explained what was wrong and took all pressure and worry off me about this unexpected warning light - all by showing me some human decency and kindness. He was as generous as to look after me as he saw the situation was stressful for me.
Very touched and grateful for this experience - I would recommended to anyone to go to Smiths Ilkeston purely because of him. Thank you!

I ordered a new Vauxhall Electric Corsa via an online broker and was a bit skeptical about the whole process. I shouldn't have been the level of service I received from the supplying garage - Smiths of Ilkeston was first class. The process was so smooth from the initial contact through to yesterdays collection.
I also felt very 'covid safe' being in a vulnerable category. They obviously care about their customers.

Had a bizarre issue with a 07 Corsa and a driving test requirement to prove no outstanding defects on the steering. Even though no money was coming their way the Service Manager Graham was absolutely brilliant! He helped me with what i needed, was genuinely interested and a lovely bloke. Fantastic Experience, recently bought a nearly new Astra SRI. Tim in used car sales was great and all while doing a deal long distance from my home in Yorkshire. They had the right car at a sensible price when my local dealer were unable to source one from Vauxhall. Smiths service from start to finish was great, the car was spotless, it was serviced also which I didn't ask for. They gave the great customer service I've come to expect from my local family dealer in Yorkshire. Bought a used car from here - spot on no problems with the car or the service. Problems come a year later when they THINK it wants an MOT and service. 3x calls rejected later I thought they would get the message. I answer the fourth one and ask for a QUOTE for a service. I must have said "quote only" 4 times on the phone. Low and behold I come off the phone to an email saying it was all booked in for Saturday 1st February. I reply to the email asking for it to be cancelled, even got a reply saying it was cancelled as requested. Then the day before I get a text confirming it is booked in and they expect to see me there

Fantastic service. My Corsa was hesitating/ jumping when driving and after the engine management light illuminated I knew I needed to get it looked at as soon as possible. After speaking to many Vauxhall dealerships, they couldn't get me booked in until the following week and were unable to do the work on a Saturday. Graham at Smiths of a Ilkeston offered to look at it for me the next day (Saturday). After they checked my car and told me what the problem was, I was told that the part was not in stock. However, Graham sourced the part for me and I was out within a few hours. I cannot thank you enough for sorting my car out for me and for providing exceptional service. I will recommend and will return for future work. Thank you.

Unfortunately there was a fault on the car I was shown, one that was tucked away and luckily I spotted because I checked extra features like sunroof blind & checked all the small things were functioning. The website says they do thorough inspections prior to selling cars as it's a main manufacturer dealer. Yet when I asked why it was missed I was told the cars aren't inspected until they are sold. Made no sense. They weren't prepared to fix it & I didn't see add taken down or changed the week after. Pleasant staff, wheelchair accessible enterance but wasted journey & near miss.

Couldn't thank these guys enough, Graham and the team over the past few weeks from being sold a faulty car from a different dealer I took the car to these guys to be investigated and they did all that they could up until I decided to send the car back to the dealer, Graham fully had my back on whole situation and I really do appreciate it, on a positive I ended up with a beautiful astra from Tim over the road and I couldn't be more happy with it.

I've had a couple of minor issues over the last few months to which I've had to call Smiths expecting to have to take my car in, but after getting advice from the Service department at Smiths both issues was resolved without a visit or charge. I spent around a month looking for a car for a young lady who had just passed her test.
Going from dealer to dealer... looking at various different cars is quite a time consuming and stressful experience.
I spotted a nice Vauxhall Corsa on CarGurus at Smiths and after speaking to Tim on the phone thought I would travel up to Derbyshire to have a look....a round journey of 5 1/2 hours for me.
It was worth it.....This dealership was like a breath of fresh air..!!
A nice welcome on arrival from Tim who was friendly and very knowledgeable about all aspects of the car.
I had a test drive and the Corsa was perfect....the car was already at a reasonable price so no haggling was needed....and it came with a full service,12 month MOT and a 12 month warranty...Great service.
Tim answered all my questions and made it a stress free experience...just how it should be.
I found this to be a very good dealership and would use again.
Thank you Tim....I have a very Happy young lady with a lovely car.

So my lad was looking for an economical 1st car, as he is due to do his driving test within the next few days.
I visited Smiths of Ilkeston and met Craig & Tim. Having bought so many different cars, motorbikes even vans in my life, I can say hands down, these were there nicest people I've ever dealt with.
Really keen to get it right for you, offer the most viable car for your budget and most importantly absolutely not pushy at all!
We were offered a very decent and lengthy test drive, the few very minor issues with the car were completely sorted, set perfectly right and even the inside demister blower was totally replaced at no charge to us at all simply for not working on settings one and two.
The car, an older Opel Corsa, perfect working condition, handed to us in an immaculate state, just as if it were coming out on the road for the 1st time!
Thank you very much guys, totally recommend them to anyone if you'd like a totally problem free second hand car and two sales guys who would honestly listen to you and offer you the best solution to suit your needs!

Bought insignia 6 weeks ago at a cost of over 21000 pounds.found that 2 recalls had not been attended to and the rear electric window was not working ,when this was rectified at another vauxhall garage was told that a tyre had a bulge in side wall and was unroadbworthy.cost of new tyre 269 pounds.Smiths did not want to know and were quite rude.Check car thourerly before buying. In reply from SF he said that I was offered a contribution for tyre this is an downright lie.Do not trust this company

After booking my business vehicle a week in advance for MOT. I was told to have it there for 8.30am so to be done asap. After being there 8 hours still not done! I phoned at 3.00pm to enquire what was the hold up. i was told it was in being done.. it would take about 1 hour. After 1 hour 20 minutes i decided to go and only to find it was sat exactly where i left it. Not moved! (Looks like i wasnt told the truth!). On complaining to reception i was told sorry we are too busy!! This company has cost me a days business and another to go elsewhere to get it done. I have been having my vehicle and familys car serviced here for years. Well! no more. Discusting service.
