I was contacted via the Autotrader advert and having agreed the deal price on my car the whole exchange and payment process was easy and very professionally done. I would recommend selling to Carter & Haines rather than 'We buy any car'. This heavily advertised website offered me slightly more than Carter & Haines but when I took the car in there was all manner of quibbling about minor stone chips. Carter & Haines know their business and could see my vehicle was in good condition. Thanks

I had posted my Ford Focus st on Autotrader 24 hours prior to receiving a phone call from Phil at Carter and Haines.
Phil asked for a quick background on the car, mileage, bumps, scratches etc. Phil offered in the region of what I was looking for to sell the car privately, a good amount more than webuyanycar etc... who knock hundreds off the cars value.
I actually went back to Phil to see if he could raise his offer by £60 so it would match my settlement figure and he kindly did so.
I arranged to drop my car off at Ford in Dunfermline so Phil could arrange for the car to be collected. I’ll admit, much like many other reviews, I was very cautious and dubious to say the least as it all sounded too good to be true... but Carter and Haines delivered on everything as promised. Phil provided proof of payment to ford credit via a screenshot sent by email. I called Ford Credit to confirm payment had been received, which it had, so handed over the keys.
I couldn’t recommend Carter and Haines highly enough, absolute pleasure to deal with, very trustworthy and offer very fair and true offers for your car. If you feel like I did and are a little cautious, don’t. I am delighted to have sold my car and even more delighted to have received a good price for the car as well as excellent service from Phil.

The service was very helpful and informative especially given I didn’t know what to do to sell a car privately. However what I will warn you of if, in my scenario where I had maintenance on my bank account with faster transactions they weren’t happy at all as I didn’t want to let the car out of my sight until I could see the money in my account. The owner, Paul was very passive aggressive. Threatening behaviour to charge me additional costs for driver wait time. However they paid the price and were initially very helpful when it came to the end of the transaction didn’t really have much empathy for my situation. £13k is a lot of money to potentially lose. However I was a 1st time customer, if I was to use the again (wouldn’t) I may have more trust. From their perspective I was the one holding everything up, but rightly so, £13k is a lot of money.

Highly recommended at first I was sceptical as the money involved was a lot but they reassured me prompt payment.
No renegotiation upon collection true to their word as car was as described go with these guys they value your customer and give you more than the big firms.

I put my car on sale a week ago. Michael phoned me to arrange a viewing. I was very skeptical to be honest that a company would turn up inspect the car and pay in not very much time at all. I had to re arrange the viewing the day before at around 8pm because of personal reasons. Michael re arranged everything, so that their inspector could be there at 8.15 AM. He was, the car was checked out and once the management were happy I got an email from DVLA saying the car was sold to Carter & Haines and the money was in the bank. All I can say is that "in life when something seems too good to be true, it usually is". That is unless you are dealing with these guys!!! Michael is a credit to the firm and very professional.

I'll be honest, I was sceptical about Carter & Haines. I put my car on auto-trader and the next day my phone rang, It was Phil Hayes enquiring about my C-MAX. He was friendly and not at all pushy, there was a bit of bartering which is expected when selling a car but we reached an agreement that we were both happy with. Over the next couple of days I started to get a bit concerned, was it to easy, was it to good to be true but after speaking to Phil again he put my mind at rest. We arranged the collection and it went without a hitch, instant payment as promised and the fella collecting was polite and curtious. I honestly couldn't recommend Carter & Haines enough. Thanks Phil & the team.

As others, I was very sceptical to start off with. But they promised a fair price for the car, picked it up when they said they would, sent the payments when they said they would and obtained confirmation of finance settlements before leaving with the car. Would definitely recommend.
