Please don't use this shop, I bought my first bike from here at the age of 17, I'm now 22 and still ride. The sold me a ridiculously broken bike for a ridiculous price. They also don't know what the word warranty means. They're just a store full of old greedy men.

Great guys. They were honest, friendly and they sorted out bike in the most efficient and cost effective way even when they could have spent hours diagnosing the problem. I would recommend them to anyone looking for advice or repairs. They have very fair prices too!

Love this shop, best bike shop in Brighton. Friendly knowledgeable staff, great prices and down to earth real people. They give my bike all the t.l.c I don’t! She always comes home purring and less noisy than when it went in.

Such a lovely bloke. Took my bike in to get its wheels look at. Normally as a woman motorbike shops can be quiet patronizing and uncomfortable but they were so welcoming and friendly there. Cannot recommend enough, generally helpful and lovely- not out to grab your money.

The workshops seems to be getting very poor. Reviews. I've never used so can't comment. But the guys and girl in the front of the shop selling parts and accessories are great and Steve upstairs who does the clothing is solid gold - good products, great recommendations and no bullshit. The best for bike clothing and gear in Brighton.

I have asked them to clean my carbs. I've paid 100 for the job which haven't been done properly. The guy at the reception has made up the story that it doesn't work properly because diaphragms are old and cracked. I've changed them 2 months ago! They are brand new I just checked them! First and last time I have visited them scums.

Heard mixed things but I can't complain everytime I've been into this branch I'm always greeted with a warm welcome and very friendly staff. I've been in a pickle with tyres and batteries and they've always provided a good deal and very prompt turn around. Look forward to dealing with you again!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Please, please please don't even think that in terms of convenience this place might be a good idea. I've unfortunately fallen foul of these guys too many times, I'm actually quite embarrassed I'm having to writing this, clearly I should've learnt my lesson a long time ago so in the hope of saving someone the same pain here I go.... The problem is they actually come across quite personable in the shop. But don't be fooled, as soon as something goes wrong they'll be dismissive, will refuse any culpability and will leave you feeling like you've been cheated and taken for a mug! Let me elaborate a little (and believe me this is only the tip of the ice burg), I recently had a electrical problem with my 748 and for some reason decided to wheel it over to Bikes, I was pretty sure it'd be a 5 minute fix with a voltmeter to hand. Of course this wasn't the case. 3 weeks later (reason to avoid in it's own right) the work was done and I picked up the bike. On inspection the disrespect and sheer heavy handedness the bike must have gone through left me horrified - straight away I noticed one of my mirrors was loose, I'd only fitted new ones weeks beforehand and what I found was a sheared bracket and threaded screws, only explanation - total neglect, and a substantial knock of some kind. Not happy about this I inspected further… What I found was not good. There was heat damage to the clutch cover (immaculate before coming in), where the paint had bubbled up and broken, in total about 2 inches across. Not the end of the world but extremely annoying, but worst of all was what I noticed next - a 6 inch piece of fairing that had been ripped off of the lower right panel! (profile pic shows the damage) I'd spent £500+ on new bodywork and a respray only a few months earlier and being a passion of mine I knew every nick 'n scratch on the bike so when I confronted Paddy, the mechanic I was shocked to hear his response - and that as far as he was concerned the bike was like this before it arrived! After no end of insisting this wasn't possible I've found myself seeking legal recourse, and looking into the small claims court… Believe me you don't wanna be in my boat! The sheer audacity - how can a business still be afloat when it has absolutely no respect for its customers?! Please spread the word and hopefully some element of this may go viral (I'm gonna do my best). This place needs to close! A neglect bordering on vandalism is the only way to describe the work you'll get from these guys, so if I've achieved anything at all I hope I've managed to guide people away and saved them the heartache I've endured at the hands of this (one can only say) Chop-Shop!

these guys are simply the best. I went in with my new tyre i could quite squeeze on myself... although i had taken the old 1 off and change the tyre valves that were split i just couldnt do it... they managed too, super easy and were super reasonably priced and didnt make me feel awkward like i expected, but were genuine amazing people... they also carried the spark plug i needed and didnt try to convince me i needed a better more expensive one for my 50cc. So i walked out of there under budget, when i was expecting to get rinsed and feel stupid, i walked out feeling great like there was a shop you can rely on. Thats a massive thing, i wont be strictly purchasing online anymore, not with such great friendly staff reasonable prices and no need to wait for delivery.... these guys earnt my 5 stars

Spent a few weeks getting some bike bits sorted with these guys and I have to say that these chaps are fantastic. Every biker in Brighton knows the shop and MOT centre and they have no shortage of happy customers coming back again and again. The staff are all excellent mechanics with many years of experience, there is always full respect given to both customers and bikes. Reading through these comments surprised me because I ended up being there most days for a few weeks and didn't spot a single unhappy customer or negligent work done, to the contrary, these guys know their stuff, operate within the law and get the job done well. The only downside was that they were all very busy due to the volume of customers that wanted their bikes dealt with there - but even with a waiting list they are a brilliant company who I have been recommending to all the bikers I know on the south coast. I'd recommend riding down to the shop and checking it out yourself, there's parking out front, a big clothing section upstairs, get some new kit or advice and have a good chat with the staff (who are as mad as a bag of spiders in the best possible way). The negative reviews here are a disservice to the brilliant place and service, trust your own eyes before you believe some grumpy git on the internet.

The worst mechanic I've ever encountered. I took my bike in for a repair, they had it for two months, charged me the best part of three hundred pounds and in the end i had to go and take it back from them in about fifty pieces to get it fixed by someone who actually knew what they were doing. They never called me to let me know what was going on so i had to bug them about it constantly. I depend on my bike for day to day transportation and i told them i needed it done urgently but it made no difference. the mechanic who actually fixed it in the end told me that they were totally wrong about the problem, they thought it was the carburetor but it was actually the exhaust valve which should have been obvious to anyone with experience working on bikes. Also while Bikes of Brighton had it, my bike must have been left out in the rain and probably dropped at least once because when i took it back the metal work was rusted and the left side was all scratched up. I'll never go near the place again.

Got a front tyre puncture near here on a Sunday, parked it outside and dropped the keys off the morning and it was all sorted by midday for 24 quid. Nice honest people.

Bodge-jobs by cowboys... Visited twice, once for a broken indicator mount, which they proposed to repair using a scrap piece of aluminium found in the workshop, no offer of genuine parts replacement... rang for a quote for a replacement chain-guard, told would be called back, never happened... dropped the bike in for an MOT, which took them over a month (no major works, indicator window replacement (which they broke, but i was still charged) and the carbs needed a clean (max two days)), once finished they delivered it to the incorrect address and had to cover all costs myself. Staff are rude, blissfully unaware of current trading standards, and go ahead with work without quoting first. all in all, second rate bike mechanics, who may have many years experience, but that'd be experience of doing a bad job. do yourself a favour and go to the guy on Lewes rd...

I've never felt the need to write a google review, however after my experience at the Bikes Of Brighton MOT Centre I just kinda had to do it. I'd been to these guys some time ago, no real drama as my bike always passed its MOT in the past. I googled the place to get their number, noticed a few bad reviews for the workshop but thought it must just be a few cases of bad luck. Sadly this wasn't the case. This time my bike had been sat for some time so it needed the carbs cleaning, probably an oil change as well as an MOT. The guys said no problem, a few days work. My bike was with these guys for about two & 1/2 months whilst I was fobbed off with excuses, reasons why it hadn't been looked at, getting told it had been finished when it hadn't, waiting about two weeks for a widely available brake seal kit to materialise, and so on. I had to continually chase the guy down who was looking at my bike, promised to be called back and wasn't. To be fair, the guy looking at my bike meant well and had good intentions but just kept fobbing me off. The other guy down there is one of the most miserable, joyless people I've ever had to deal with. I was repeatedly told they were just inundated with bikes, and that summer is a busy time for them. Perhaps hiring another mechanic or telling me it would be almost 3 months to get my bike running would have been a good move then, boys. On the day I was finally called in to collect finished bike, with my patience fully tested and at an end, the guy was not around when I turned up (after telling me, of course, that my bike and MOT certificate were ready to go) and I had to wait over an hour for him to come back, as his colleague Doctor Misery couldn't figure out where my MOT certificate was. Not the biggest deal on a normal day but after nearly 3 months of bullish*t it was the cherry on top. Charged just shy of £400. During this time I was thinking about writing a review, warning people against the service they might receive. Once I had my bike back, whilst riding it home the extreme annoyance melted away a bit & I thought "ah what's the point". Then the very, very best part of all - the next day I notice a dark pool forming underneath the engine. I have a good look under the bike and realised there's oil dripping from the sump plug. I reach for the sump plug to feel for a leak and voila, the plug unscrews in my hand. No tools, no force, it unscrews by hand. For me, this was the final straw for Bikes Of Brighton ever touching anything I ride again. I tightened the plug up myself - but for someone else who might know nothing about bikes, this could have been catastrophic to their machine as it haemorrhaged oil without them noticing. So this is the sort of thing you might expect if you get your bike looked at by these guys. If you need any thing doing to your bike itself, do yourselves a favour and go elsewhere. I can't emphasise that strongly enough. The shop on Preston Road is another matter altogether. Steve is a really sound bloke and was very helpful with trying to find my wife some bike gear. Also Paddy, the fellow who picked my bike up in a van was really friendly too. That said, whichever mechanic looked over my wife's bike at the Preston Rd workshop (which needed the switch/spring for the rear brake light fixing) charged me £30, got the bike back and the switch still wasn't working. Go elsewhere.

I'm 23 and a bit of a newbie to the biking business and picked a bad time of year to start with it being winter! I commute a fair distance to work on my suzuki drz 400. Feeling naive and in the dark about what would be needed for my first ever MOT and service I was more than happy with the guys down Bikes. They explained all the bits I needed and didnt rip me off as got advice from elsewhere as well before settling on Bikes. They even gave me tips about riding in the winter. Couldnt be more different to the other reviews on here. Cheers Chaps!
