The worst vets in the world. After to-and-fro with their reception, a meeting today to discuss an important issue with Graeme the Head Vet. It was the worst experience - he was rude and even made explicit threats. He was aggressive and even explicitly said he would overcharge us on future visits. This all comes out from us wanting a prescription. They charge £90 for pills when we can get these elsewhere for half the price. When we asked for the prescription, we were told we couldn't have this without Graeme's sign-off - yet the receptionist was happy to sell us the pills directly....when we arrived to pick up the prescription slip Graeme had instructed them to charge £50 for the privilege. We expected Graeme to discuss how this was for the good of the dog...but nope - he was explicit in telling us he needed to compete with others so charges for everything. Key quote was "My time is precious. I charge £50 for my time with anyone breathing the same air". He was honestly the most aggressive man who does not care for animals - explicitly just goes after profit. Companion Vets franchise should be ashamed... Honestly...we get they need to make money. The vet we had previously seen was lovely and we would happily have continued to bring our dogs for consultations to see her. Sadly, they've lost our business for good thanks to a threatening, intimidating and threatening owner owner.

TL;DR: Vet was exceptional, reception and everything else was unforgivable appalling! Truly one of the worst experiences I, my mother and my cat (Piccolo) have ever had. We've been here before and it's often similar but this time was just so out of order! Quick note, the Vet herself was exceptional! Very professional, smart, kind and just everything you want in a vet. The reception staff however, were appalling, unprofessional, rude and unhelpful. We're used to waiting when we come here and I guess it's the same as a GP although this was over 30 minutes late. Then, after the brilliant vet finished her work, the receptionist, Sunny although the other receptionists aren't much better, told us it was £145 and when we asked where the number came from she said "oh I need to zero something out" and it was suddenly £93.55, which is what we expected. Not only did she not seem to comprehend that she almost overcharged is but then had the gall to demand we signed a form with our card details so they could charge us later because the "internet was down" and it didn't occur to anyone to tell us while we were waiting because "we're expecting the internet back on any moment. If you're still tempted to go I won't continue explaining the remaining of the exchange as it was equally as bad but I will say that giving my card details is not only not something I did not want to do, but had to to speed up and get out, but it's clearly against GDPR and just unsafe! I'm so very disappointed and it has left a sickening taste. We will never go back but I feel so sorry for the Vet, someone that brilliant shouldn't be penalised for the subpar staff surrounding her.

If you want to visit a practice where the head vet Graeme is more concerned about profit than your pets wellbeing this is the Vets for you. Fine if you could/can afford insurance but if you don't have any don't expect any compassion or understanding form Graeme just a 15 min rant on how people have no idea how expensive it is to run a vets compared to NHS prices. Also if you think of getting a second opinion they will refuse to ever see you again no matter if you have already spent hundreds with them. Also if you want to get a prescription to buy drugs online to reduce cost prepare for the threat of "Graeme will charge you for a prescription but also a consultancy fee to write you one plus any phone call they will also charge at a consultancy cost because you are trying to take money away form him"! (This will then make ordering online more expensive) After spending over a £1000 (Told by new vet with them it would have cost half this) we decided to leave, so advice is if you want a vet that cares more about profit and money than you or your pet and money is not issue then this is the place for you. (Ps all other staff are really nice apart from the one receptionist who constantly complains about working there and could do with going on a customer service course)

Vet we saw was fantastic with our dog and was very attentive. She noticed our dog was missing a claw after one glance even though that wasnt the reason for the visit. Our dog seemed to like her too so couldn't ask for more.

Unnecessary consultations, asking us to call back when they didn't even see our dog. Then charged us over 3 times for medication. There are better vets out there, with better pricing and integrity.

I'm not usually one to write reviews but after several visits felt it was the least I could do. My experience with the practice and Graeme especially has been exceptional. During each visit Graeme has taken the time to explain thoroughly what was needed and possible next steps. Graeme is extremely knowledgeable and offers very fair and clear advice. We have felt very safe trusting him with our beloved pet and he goes the extra mile to make her feel very welcome and relaxed during our visits. She even had an injection and didn't seem to feel a thing! Very happy with this amazing service and by far the best vet experience we could ask for. Thank you so much Graeme and the Hove team!

My cat was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in Dec 2019 and was prescribed Thyronorm on which she is doing well. I have asked for a prescription and each time I am palmed off with some excuse. I feel that this practice cares more about money than the animals.

He was very informative and made me feel very “looked after“. The reception staff were also very lovely and friendly. They helped me with the few questions I had with ease.

Shocking service. I understand COVID 19 has repercussions but this is ridiculous. First appointment was cancelled 3 hours before the appointment, second appointment was cancelled less than an hour before (yesterday), pencilled in a third appointment for the next day to be called 30 mins before telling us the vet was late The male receptionist was rude, condescending and was sniggering when I voiced my disappointment at the service. Who do you have handling your customer care calls? My puppy had his first vaccinations at companion care. As a result of these delays his first vaccinations have ran out so WE HAVE TO START AGAIN.

Do not use this vet. I used them 3 times for my terrier dog, first time waited 40 mins to see vet who then wanted to schedule endless tests one being a specialised scan costing £700. When I told him I wasn't insured and not prepared to pay that amount I could sense he became frosty, but examined him and prescribed medication. 2nd time again I had to wait 45 mins over my appointment time, vet was OK on this occasion so gave him benefit of the doubt. 3rd time I was asked to wait outside until they called me because of Social Distancing, waited 50 mins outside eventually I called them only to be told there was no appointment scheduled for me. I was given this appointment time over the phone but I also had to go in to collect extra medication and confirmed appointment then as well. One of the reception staff is very rude and unhelpful, I don't know her name but all I know is she could do with proper training in customer care and reception skills. Will not be going back. Will find an independent practice as these always seem to offer better service.

I have had some brilliant service and care here, from some great vets and lovely reception staff. But they never seem to stay that long. The one person who has is Graeme, the main veterinarian. Each time my dog has seen him, he has used scare tactics into upselling products and procedures. For example saying my dog has probably got a spinal condition that would need surgery to remove a vertebrae, when she’d actually just pulled a muscle. And another example, a simple question of what food I give my dog, I answer I give her hypoallergenic food (she suffers from skin problems), I was told that I cannot trust anything I buy and MUST buy direct from the practice, not even from pets at home (where the practice is situated in), this same advice applies to any flea or worming treatment that pets at home sell... I must only go through companion care. I fully understand giving all the information in a situation, and that they are a business, and part of that is selling products BUT ultimately the care and health of your clients pets is the first priority. I would advise steering clear of this place, do your research and go somewhere with higher reviews. I’m now paying a little extra money at my new vets, but it’s totally worth it. No more stress, my dogs health is put first before any upselling tactics, and the vets make sure to give masses of advice to me so I ultimately don’t need to go back as often.

Always run late. Most expensive vets ever been to. Inflated prices. Double check what you're going to pay, certainly not what's advertised. Always trying to upsell. Having spoken to other vets and DEFRA I have lost confidence here. They just don't know what they are doing. One star is for really helpful guy on reception.

Very disappointed. After taking our cat in for a gippy tummy we were informed he could have a liver shunt or numerous other ailments. After numerous tests, payments, visits, turns out NOTHING was wrong with him AT ALL. This type of thing should have been noticed by a qualified vet. To pay £700.00 for nothing wrong is a bit of a low ball tactic. Not a happy customer.

Outstanding veterinary service. I brought my Rottweiler here for scans and everyone was just wonderful as it was a new place for him. They were careful to welcome him gently and called me as soon as they had any information. Really super staff. It's easy to get to and all pricing was made very clear to me beforehand. I can't recommend this service enough.

Due to traffic issues..missed appointment by 30 minutes. .but did ring to say traffic issues. Receptionist ok running late ..arrived and then waited 90 minutes. . Checked 3 times with her any issues ..just told vet had difficult situation. When seen by vet extremely apologetic did not know we were there and was only discussing situations with previous. He did give Murphy free kennel cough dose. However it would be fair to say most appointments in past have not run to time.
